Worship at St. Paul’s

Our principal activity each week is our Sunday morning worship service. Our service includes prayers, readings from Scripture, beautiful music, and Holy Communion. Visitors are always welcome and our Service Guide helps visitors understand our service and participate in it easily.

You are welcome at St. Paul’s!

Worship Services

Sunday mornings at 10:00 a.m.

Most Sundays we share in a celebration of Holy Eucharist. Our service includes readings from scripture, prayers, a sermon, and sharing in Holy Communion. Baptized Christians of any age, including children, are welcome to partake in Holy Communion. On the third Sunday of each month, we also offer a short optional healing service immediately following our main worship service.

Sunday services include three readings from the Bible.

You will find a copy of the Book of Common Prayer in your pew. Along with our hymnal, this book includes everything you to share in worship.

Getting here

It’s easy to find St. Paul’s, located at 101 East Williams Street at the corner of Church Street, just off of Main Street (Route 5 & 20) in Waterloo.

Free parking is available in our parking lot on Church Street, across from the Waterloo Library.

When arriving for Sunday worship, we invite you to enter through the door on Church Street, which is next to our parking lot.

Questions?

Here are some of the questions first-time visitors have asked us. Have another question? Get in touch!

What time should I arrive?  Where should I sit?

Most people arrive between 9:45 and 9:55. Arriving early? The door to the church will be open (it is the red door, on Church Street, right next to our parking lot). A bit late? No problem—come right in! Sit wherever you would like. There are no reserved seats.

How will I know what to do?

When you enter the church, you will get a bulletin to tell you all about the day’s service. You will also get a printed copy of the service that we are using that day, explaining each part of our worship service and why we do what we do. This will allow you to participate easily in our worship service. We use two books during our services: the Book of Common Prayer and the Hymnal. You will find them in your pew.

Is your church accessible? Do I have to walk up to the altar for Holy Communion?

Our church is fully accessible. There is a ramp into the church from our parking lot and a ramp from our church to the parish hall where we enjoy coffee after worship.  Our priest, Father Haugaard, will be happy to bring you communion at your seat.

I have a baby who might cry during the service. Do I have to leave if my baby cries?

No, not at all. All babies cry at times. If you would like to get up and walk in the aisle to soothe your baby, you can do that. But you need never worry about your baby crying or babbling or talking—it adds to our service and it does not bother us. Learn more about our programs for your little ones and teens.

Am I supposed to attend church every week?

Come when you are able. Join us when you can and do not worry if you are busy with other things some Sundays.

Do I have to give money when I come to church?

No. We do collect an offering each week. If you have a bit of money that you can give us, you can put that in the plate as it is passed.  If you do not have any money to donate that week, just pass the plate along.
